8 Days Of Adventure, Food & Culture On Main Land Greece

On this adventure we begin our first few days in Athens and surrounds (Sunion), taking in the sights and sounds, eating at some of our favorite restaurants and locations in the city, exploring the ancient ruins & immersing ourselves into the rich culture & history of this beautiful and revolutionary city.

We then start our road trip through the Greek heartland, the Pelion Mountains, a range in the southeastern part of Thessaly, in northern Greece. Pelion is considered one of the most beautiful mountains in Greece. In Greek mythology, Mount Pelion was the homeland of Chiron the Centaur, tutor of many ancient Greek heroes, such as Jason, Achilles, Theseus and Heracles.

Mt. Pelion also happens to be the home of The Karaiskos Family Farm at the slopes of Mountain Pelion, we will be staying at their “farm to table” farm stay in this area and learn a bit about the local, organic & sustainable practices in Greece. Here we will Learn how to make authentic and traditional recipes from mount Pelion region using bio vegetables from their farm and at the end enjoy our meal and taste Greek organic wines, wines, beers, coffee and mountain tea with our hosts! We then stay the night at their bed and Breakfast. before we make our way up to the pinnacle top monasteries of Meteora on our way to the northwestern city of Ioannina.

In and around Ioannina we will explore the northwest region of Greece, our home base will be the charming city of Ioannina, the Capital of the Epirus region of Greece. This region is home to the best hiking and whitewater of Greece. We will explore the food and culture of the area, as well as visit some amazing waterfalls, going on some beautiful hikes, floating some gorgeous whitewater rivers & check out the deepest gorge in Europe, Vikos Gorge.

For the final leg of our adventure, on our way back to Athens, we will stop in Delphi to see the Temple of Athena at the ruins of Delphi where the Ancient Oracle of Delphi once used to reside.
