4 Day Chef Guided Culinary Tour & Cultural Immersion Adventure

We will be spending 4 days getting to know some of the rich history and food culture of Egypt by diving into some of the historical sites and iconic culinary scenes of its capital, Cairo.

Over our 4 days we will be going on a series of food related excursions to some of Cairo’s most popular establishments. Each day will be dedicated to 1 of 4 aspects of Cairo’s food culture: high end international cuisine, traditional local cuisine, street-food and finally a local food market tour and class/home cooked dinner party! (Lead by Chef Akram)

We also will be exploring some of the history and entertainment the city has to offer as we tour the Giza Pyramid Complex on horse or camel back, visit the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities, and stroll through the ancient alleys of the oldest and largest open -air bazaar/market place in North Africa: Khan Il-Khalili. (Over 1100 years old!)

Each day (except on the 4th day when we do the home cooked theme) 3 meals will be had at 3 different establishments. Between each meal we will explore the city and history and have a generally amazing time together!

Day 1: Egyptian cuisine day and pyramid tour. This day will be the authentic local cuisine day and the pyramid complex tour. We will have breakfast at Zooba, a light lunch or a roof top over lookingoverlooking the pyramids, and then dinner at Abou El Sid where they make some of the best classic egyptianEgyptian dishes in an authentic and beautifully decorated environment. The main adventure on this day will be the pyramid tour. We will also head down to the nileNile for a sunset sail on a traditional mono sail egyptian sail boatEgyptian sailboat called a Felucca, followed by drinks/night cap at Odeon Place Rooftop Bar.

Day 2: High end restaurant day and the Museums. On this day will be exploring the more highendhigh-end aspects of cairoCairo and see what the cittycity has to offer in the way of international Cuisine. We will begin the day with breakfast at PAUL, then have a light lunch in between the museums, followed by dinner at KAZOKU, then drinks/night cap at The KempinskyKempinski Nile Rooftop Bar. The main adventures of the day will be the Egyptian Museum of Antiquities & The Museum of Egyptian Culture.

Day 3: Street-Food dayDay and Khan Il-Khalili. On this day we will explore the abundant street food of Cairo, from falafel sandwishessandwiches and shawermasshawarmas to the egyptianEgyptian national dish Khoshari at some of our most loved and most delicious locations around the city. We will begin by having breakfast at Abo Ahmed some of the best falafels you will ever have, then lunch at KosharyKhoshari Abou Tarek, and dinner at Abu Haider the best egyptianEgyptian style shawermashawarma in town. Our main adventure will be wandering the shops and stalls of Khan Il Khalili Market, the largest and oldest continuous use open air market in Africa.

Day 4: Local Food Market Tour/dinner party! On this day we will visit a local neighborhood food market, we will visit  and shop at local fruit and vegetable vendors,  bakeries,  fresh local butchers,  fish mongers, cheese shops and more. At each location we will chat with the shop owners and locals and get a feel of what daliydaily life is like for the average egyptian famillyEgyptian family and the shop owners who service them. We will samolesample juices at local fresh juice stands, have coffecoffee and sheesha (hookah) at a local coffee shop, and then we will head home with all our ingredients where Chef Akram will show you how cook an authentic Egyptian dinner as we have one last famillyfamily style dinner party and hang out through the night for our final day together!
