11 Days From The Ionian Sea To The Zagoria Mountains In Greece.

On this adventure we will spend 8 amazing days sailing between the islands of Greece’s Ionian Sea, experiencing the regions food, music, beaches, caves, diving & hiking. After our time in the islands, we will make our way inland to the beautiful city of Ioannina the gate way to the beautiful Zagoria region of northern Greece. Here we will spend 3 days experiencing whitewater, caves and a breathtaking hike to Vikos George, the deepest gorge in Europe. If the idea of a surf and turf style adventure that shows you the best that Greece has to offer from island and sea to mountains and rivers, it doesn't get more diverse and immersive than this!

(This adventure requires a minimum of 2 participants to happen. We urge participents to arrive the day before the adventure begins by flying into Aktion International Airport in Preveza, Greece. We will arrange transport from the airport to the cove in which the idyllic beach side town of Nydri lies (45 min drive from the airport) where our boat will be departing from the following morning.)

Day 1: First Day in Sivota, Lefkada. we will  raise anchor in Nydri and set sail to our first stop, the beautiful bay of Sivota, which is a quick 2-hour distance from Nydri: during this journey we will have a full brunch spread on board the boat the moment we set sail.

Day 2: Adventure In Fiskardo, Kefalonia. We will leave early in the morning and have our breakfast as we sail to reach one of the most beautiful and popular locations in Ionian Greece, the island of Kefalonia. It takes about 1.5 hours of sailing to get to Fiskardo, the port in which we will be spending the night, from Sivota.

Day 3-4: Two Beautiful Days In Vathy, Ithaca. We wake up and have breakfast in harbor before we set sail to our next destination, the gorgeous Vathy Port on the mythical Ithaca Island. Modern Ithaca is generally identified with Homer's Ithaca, the home of Odysseus, whose delayed return to the island is the plot of the classical Greek poem the Odyssey.

Day 5: Relaxing on Kalamos Island. Kalamos is the fourth stop of our itinerary around the Ionian islands. A long journey of 3 hours awaits us before reaching it from Vathy Port, so we will be leaving early in the morning and having breakfast under sail, to enjoy the day to the fullest.

Day 6:Discovering Meganisi Island, Spartochori village. We will wake up have breakfast then head to a sweet little island beach on the eastern tip of Meganisi Island, After about two hours of sailing. The coasts of this island are decorated with beautiful beaches and bays and caves to explore, such as the Papanikolis Cave on the southeast coast. From the little island we will head to natural port of Spartochori. It consists of stone-built cottages and traditional taverns untouched by the developments of the century.

Day 7: Experience Nydri. We wake up and have breakfast then we head back to Nydri to return out boat, then spend an amazing night in town, seaside dinning and a beautiful accommodation to relax after a wonderful 7 days at sea.

Day 8: Exploring Ioannina. We wake up and go to breakfast before we head out to the beautiful mountain town of Ioannina, the gate way to the beautiful Zagoria region of northern Greece. We will settle into our accommodation and go explore the town Ioannina, the capital of Epirus, spreads out around beautiful Lake Pamvotida. The natural environment, the climate and character of the town are defined by this stretch of water – the area’s trademark. The lake, with its still waters and its small island, is a natural monument, around which the entire area lives and breathes.

Day 9: Arachthos River rafting, waterfalls and swimming holes, lakeside dinner. We wake up to an amazing breakfast cooked by your guide. We then make our way to the banks of the Arachthos River where we meet up with our river guides to go on the whitewater rafting part of our adventure experience! This location is breath taking, with emerald, green waters, and falls that cascade over cliffs edges from above, it’s like a scene out of the best movies.

Day 10: Hike up the Skala of Vradeto, Lunch in Vradeto, Beloi hike to Vikos Gorge. We will wake up and head out to breakfast, we will then make our way to the famous hike up the Skala of Vradeto an ancient stairway of about 2000 steps built on the side of a canyon and almost impossible to see from a distance. It starts at the end of a long path from the village of Kapesovo and is a beautiful hike up to the village of Vradeto.

Day 11:  A Day in Preveza, Greece. This is our last day together; we will spend it by waking up and having breakfast before making our way back to Preveza. We will spend the rest of the day exploring the amazing seaside town and discovering amazing food and drinks along the way before we part ways and end our amazing adventure together.
